No Child Left Inside!

6/27/2016

Across the nation, field trips are being eliminated from schools district's budgets. Teachers are restricted by the pressures from districts to show curricular results and to cover content in the classroom. , leaving little time for excursions. However, studies indicate that field trips are a key compentent of school instruction that broadens the educational experience and makes a subject more relevant.

Thank you to all the men who are taking their charge as protector, provider, and mentor. It's so important in helping kids feel comforted when distressed is incredibly important to their sense of security, and so is the support they feel from being fathered when they start looking for the world beyond mom’s arms.

Below are some helpful tips for parents in working together with raising your family.

Moms: Support the father figures in your children’s lives with your appreciation and respect. They are not just subbing for you; they are your tag team in keeping your children secure and safe, not just from the world, but in it.

Dads: (biological and otherwise) Turn off your devices and be in the moment with your kids. They need to know, trust and feel the real you. Take your unique role as ‘Securer of Exploration’ seriously; they do.

summer vacation and learning

6/13/2016

Summer break may be only about 10 weeks long, but during that time kids can forget a lot of what they spent the previous nine months working hard to learn. Although some education reformers would do away with summer vacation. I take the opposite view: summer is an important time for informal learning and discovery for children and it allows them to explore and display creativity through nature or in other ways.
