A rich and varied vocabulary is essential for good readers and speakers. Use a dictionary or create a vocabulary list to teach your child three new words a day. Also, provide lots of opportunties for them to read books and have stories read to them. Discuss the characters in the stories and have your child offer suggestions on what the characters could have done differently in the story to enhance their higher order thinking abilities.
